Meanwhile, multimode fiber optic could travel the signal in multiple paths. Therefore, multimode cable allows you to get higher bandwidth but not higher speeds.

Based on the length of the cable, both modes are able to serve data transmission speeds in multiple gigabytes per second. Multimode cable offers speed that ranges from 10 to 100 MBS (megabytes per second). However, you can get better speed by using single mode cable.
Besides, you should also notice that both modes are able to go over long distances. Multimode cable could achieve the distance of 3,000 feet before the occurrence of noticeable signal distortion. However, single mode cable is able to reach up to 50 times of the distance offered by multimode one, because of its attenuation and resistance.
